Rajnitir Rangamonche written by Barun Sengupta

Barun Sengupta wrote the novel Rajnitir Rangamonche.

Barun Sengupta, the founder-editor of Bartaman newspaper. This book is a collection of comments that he has written on various political events at different times.

In most cases, the value of comments is immediate. But a collection of comments published in a series can also have historical value. Moreover, it also shows the political tension of a particular time. Mainly: That is why this collection was published. I am grateful to the authorities of Anandabazar Patrika for allowing me to publish the writings in book form.

Interesting holiday articles have recently appeared in six famous newspapers. One is titled ‘The Ten Most Sacred Cows of America‘. Translated into Bengali, the ten most sacred cows in America. And the other is The Ten Most Sacred Cows of America. That is, the ten least sacred cows in America. The first article was published in the LA Times. The second was published in the New York Times a few days later.

The two articles complement each other. The first was written by a woman, and the point was that even in America, a country of free criticism, there are ten people who are not willing to listen to anything against. Even if it is true. They can be called the Most Sacred Cow, that is, the most sacred cow. If someone tries to touch these most sacred cows, danger is inevitable—even fear of beating.

The New York Times article is based on this statement. The author’s statement is: In fact, there are ten most sacred cows in America. But it must be remembered that there are also ten least sacred cows in America. Even if it is true, one has to face danger in criticizing the most sacred cow; similarly, even if there is irrefutable evidence, very few people dare to speak well of the ten least sacred cows in public, if anyone dares to speak at all. You have to say ten things first.

For example, suppose you want to say something about the ten least sacred cows of America, and you want to say something about President Johnson’s determination. You should start like this: Although the man is from the Texan cowboy group, although his wife has made a lot of money by doing various business ventures; Although this man is responsible for all the mistakes in Vietnam, it must be said that the gentleman has determination. ‘The author says, “Even if you say so, you can get into trouble for saying the last holiday. Some of your listeners will surely poke and prod you and say, ‘I hear some very funny things in your mouth, Johnson is a gentleman again, he has determination again.’

As is the case in our country, in this state. In this country, in this state, there are some of the most sacred cows about whom to criticize in public means to bring danger. On the other hand, there are some of the least sacred cows about whom, even if you know the truth and do a lot of research, you cannot say anything good in public without hindrance.

I have said before, this attitude of the people is harmful to democracy, to the country. And the more rigid, the more ruthless or intolerant this stubborn or stubborn attitude is, the more the damage increases. It hurts the very roots of independent thought or judgment, and there is no connection between right and wrong.

As a result, the holiest cows are not always benefited. On the contrary, this attitude often brings them danger. Because today, the one who is the holiest may become the one after a while. The least sacred will stand. This change in the public mind comes very slowly and secretly. The day the change manifests itself, even the holiest cow does not get the time or opportunity to turn the plough quickly. For a long time, the one who is filled with the pride of being the holiest cow is the one who is the least sacred cow.

Among the political parties of this country, the Congress was such a holiest cow for quite some time. A large section of the countrymen were not willing to listen to any criticism of the Congress. Whoever went to do so faced strong opposition. As a result, the danger of the countrymen increased in the end. It has been seen that in this opportunity, such people have taken up residence in the Congress, which is unsustainable and unchangeable in any progressive society; or such things have been done in the name of the Congress which are extremely harmful to the country and the people, or the Congress, taking the opportunity of being the holiest cow, has spent its days only making verbal promises on many issues.
