Samresh Majumdar is a prominent writer, literary figure and storyteller of Bengali literature. He was born on 26th Falgun in 1348. He spent his childhood in the tea garden of Dwars in the hills. He passed the BA examination with Bengali honors from Scottish Church College and the MA from Calcutta University. He later joined a group theater.
Then he started writing stories while writing plays. His first story was published in Desh Patrika in 1957. The first novel Daur was published in Desh Patrika in 1955. He later wrote Uttaradhikar, Bandinibas, Kalbela, Kalpurush, Garbhadharini, Satkahan, Bara Paap Hey, Sawar, Ei Ami Renu etc. Reaches the top. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Kalbela in 1954.
