Trailokyanath Mukherjee is one of the leading writers of Bengali literature. He was an invited guest at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition in London in 1886. He attended the event in Europe as a representative of the Government of India. Coincidentally he was in London for nine months from December to April. During these nine months he visited various places in England and Europe. When he traveled to various parts of Europe, he did not think of writing a book during his travels, so he did not even think of watching the full story.

When he returned to India, some of his friends, especially the manager of the Indian Nation magazine, asked him to write a detailed account of his travels in Europe as a weekly in their magazine. Writer Trailokyanath Mukherjee agreed to his request and decided to write. But since he did not write down all the details of his travels, he began to write in that journal with all the events that were stored in his memory. He later wrote this book with a combination of all those writings.

Author Trilokyanath Mukherjee has not only narrated his travel stories in the book, but he has also beautifully told the life stories of the people living there, their thoughts, their homes in different places. It is not uncommon to find such detailed descriptions of native and foreign people in travelogues.

The whole essay, in general, has a considerable amount of ethical significance. In this book, an Indian man, who is not only well-informed about his country, has also beautifully described the life of Europe and Europeans. He has traveled extensively in various parts of India.

He has had a tremendous opportunity to observe the harsh realities of life in India. It is his assistant position in Europe as well. He did not go to England as a freshman, he went as an adult. He himself was a man of perfect Hindu society. The comments and opinions of such a traveler as he was nurtured in Hindu tradition and culture would seem interesting to both Hindus and Europeans. Above all, everyone will learn the far-reaching principles of social and political issues from the story of his travels in Europe.

He was a respected person in the Hindu society. He was able to eloquently describe the Western way of life in this book, which was not only acquired through the first newspaper reading, but also because of his complete sympathy for the higher nations.
