The book Indira Gandhi O Samajtantra (Indira Gandhi and Socialism) is written by the author Indranil Chowdhury. After the country became independent, the constitution of India was basically in the hands of the National Congress. Although the countrymen got the taste of freedom, there are various questions from various quarters about how much real freedom the countrymen got. After Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister of the country. She became the first female prime Minister of India on 24 January 1966.
Who was the first female prime Minister of India?
After Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister, she repeatedly talked about socialism with the aim of improving the Indian economy. To establish socialism in India, it was absolutely necessary to increase wealth, this was realized by the Honorable Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. Therefore, she took steps towards that promise from 1956. From 1956 to 1959, there was a preparatory phase in her steps.
She took various steps to purify the Congress party and its dishonest leaders. And this led to chaos among the Congressmen. Many of the Congress leaders did not want to accept Smt. Indira Gandhi. However, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi knew this in advance. The party organization had become very weak. The corruption had become among some people. So, she took the initiative to strengthen and detoxify the organization.
Who was the father of Indira Gandhi?
She took various steps in the socialist ideology of the country to make the country economically stronger and more prosperous and to provide food, clothing and food to the people of the country.
For the sake of the development of the country, she nationalized 14 banks, abolished the royal allowance, nationalized some coal mines. And took steps for food self-sufficiency. Apart from that, she also took many small plans.
She formed the Planning Commission. Once a meeting she told the Planning Commission, – “The lower we aim the less we shall achieve. We must think of the plan in physical terms and in terms of the minimum needs if we are to convince the people that life is worth living. We must have realism, yes. But realism in regard to whom and what? If we do not have a feeling for the people, then why plan at all”.
Furthermore, Smt. Indira Gandhiji had presented a valuable statement to everyone about taking aid from abroad. That is – ” The idea that we shall be stronger if we do not take aid is completely wrong. We shall only be strong when we can stand on our own feet.
What is the reason of Indira Gandhi’s death?
Indira Gandhiji has always taken the socialist path. She has awakened against the imperialist powers. She took a leading role in the independence of Bangladesh. She has made great progress in the country’s education. She established primary and upper primary schools in every panchayat. She introduced a free curriculum from the first to the fifth grade.
The real purpose of education is to create people. But the conventional education system of India, which the British government has introduced to destroy the people of India, has made us self-centered in the tendency to make a career by taking education in hand. This colonial education is destroying our tender talents. It is gradually bringing us down to the biological level. If the attraction to worldly happiness increases, does love for others arise? And if love for one another does not arise, what is the possibility of a truly healthy society? Therefore, true socialism cannot be established only by economic development.
