Many books have been written in English to connect the educated mind with the vast array of sciences and sciences and are still being written today. But there are not many such books in Bengali, with the help of which one can easily become familiar with the various branches of knowledge and science. Whether due to defects in the education system, lack of mental awareness or any other reason, many of us are completely unfamiliar with most of the subjects outside the active narrow education.

It can be said in particular that those who know only Bengali language face endless obstacles in their way of thinking. Being ignorant of English language, the path to familiarity with the education of the age is closed to them.

Connecting the common mind with the education of the age is a major duty of the present era. Bengali literature should not be neglected in fulfilling this duty either. Therefore, Visva-Bharati University has tried to take up this responsibility even in this crisis. Visva-Bharati was particularly interested in the book ‘Sanskrit Sahitya Katha’ and made a conscious effort to reprint this book.

Two things are being discussed briefly about the book ‘Sanskrit Sahitya Katha’.

When we say ‘culture’, we understand that the Bengali meaning of ‘culture’ is ‘Sanskrit’. Therefore, Sanskrit language means cultured language or the language of the educated. Another name for this language is Dev-Bhasha. In that sense, in that sense, it means that the language spoken to the gods in ‘Yag-Yagya’ or the language spoken by the scholars, Dev-Bhasha, is the language of the gods. Therefore, in those days, anyone who did not know this language did not receive any respect in civilized society. This language is the oldest among the polite languages of this country. The study and study of this Sanskrit language is still present in India.

When was the birth of the Vedas?

We know that many ages ago, when there were no books, people used to memorize it by listening to it and then called it Shruti. They used to recite that Shruti book from their minds for hours. It was very difficult to remember this by listening to it. Those who did this work were respected by everyone as a prominent figure in the society. They were accepted by everyone as a figure who saved the existence of the society. They were considered as ‘Pandits’. It was through these scholars that this ‘Shruti’ book spread to various parts of India.

Literary researchers say that writing was prevalent in India four to five thousand years BC, but that writing was not by the Aryans. It seems that a rich Sanskrit writing system was not possible at that time. The writing on the seals found in the clay pots at Mohenjo-daro and Harappa has not been read yet. But it has been proved that writing existed in this country thousands of years ago. But Sanskrit scriptures were passed down orally. Sanskrit language was written much later.

Who divided the Vedas into four parts?

As soon as writing in Sanskrit language started, those scholars and scholars started writing the books they memorized. Sanskrit did not have its own alphabet. Scholars used to write books in the traditional alphabet of their own country. That is why if you look at the ancient books of any country, you will see that they are written in the alphabet of that country.

A place called Kashi in India is the main center of Sanskrit education. The scholars there had written a place near Kashi as Devanagar in their books. German scholar Max Muller continued that Devanagari alphabet as the Sanskrit alphabet. Now that alphabet is being used in Sanskrit language all over India and even abroad. The name Devanagari has become the Sanskrit alphabet.

Who is Krishna Dvaipayana?

The author Nityananda Vinod Goswami has beautifully analyzed the Vedas in this book. When were the mantras of Rigveda composed? There are different opinions of different sages on this. However, most scholars have accepted that the composition of the mantras was completed 1500 years before Christ. There were no divisions before the Vedas. After the arrival of sage Krishna Dvaipayana, he divided the Vedas into four parts. That is why his name was Veda Vyas.

When was Vedanga born?

After the division of the Vedas, the Vedanga era came. In this era, the sages were deeply attracted by various aspects of the Vedas. As a result, the Vedanga was born. The Vedanga is a part of the Vedas. We have to read this book to know the beginning and end of Sanskrit literature, so the PDF file of the book is given on this web page.
