Author Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar has compiled the Bhranti Prahasan (The Comedy of Errors) of Shakespeare in Bengali under the title Bhranti Bilas. Some time ago, the author read the book The Comedy of Errors of Shakespeare. After reading Shakespeare’s book, the author realizes that people will be very happy if such a book is compiled in Bengali language. Accordingly, he compiled episodes of that ‘Bhranti Prahasan’ (The Comedy of Errors) in Bengali called Bhranti Bilas.

Shakespeare has become world famous and memorable by composing 35 plays. The poetic power of his plays has been displayed in the compositional style. He has also written four short poems and a number of short poems. Many say that he is not only the unique poet of England, but none of the poets who have appeared in the world so far have been equal to him. However, whether this decision is infallible or biased, it is just a continuous display of arrogance of a person of similarity.

Author Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar says that his book Bhranti Bilas is much inferior to many of Shakespeare’s plays in The Comedy of Errors , but his that poetry book more humorous. About Author:
Ishwar Chandra Bandopadhyay Sharma is the real name of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. He was born on 26th September 1820 in Birsingha village of Medinipur district, West Bengal. His father’s name was Thakurdas Bandyopadhyay and his mother was Bhagwati Devi. He was born in a village and lived in a very poor family. He was very kind. From an early age he was extremely sharp-witted. He started studying in his own village school and later studied at Calcutta Sanskrit College. Passed the law examination in 1839 with distinction. He was awarded the title of Vidyasagar for passing the law examination successfully. From then on, he became known as Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Although he studied law, he acquired great knowledge in Sanskrit, grammar, rhetoric, Vedanta, astrology, etc.

In 1848 he became the chief scholar of Fort William College. At this time he acquired special knowledge in Bengali literature, especially in prose writing. That is why he is called the father of prose in Bengali literature. He wrote many short story novels. He has done a lot of reading and research on children’s literature. Later he wrote books for children like Bodhodaya, Varnaparichay, Kathamala, Charitabali etc. Apart from that, he successfully wrote books like Raghubangsha, Kumarasambhav, Kadambari, Meghdoot, Bal Sanchar, Uttararamcharit, Abhijnan Shakuntalam, Shakuntala, Sitar Banbas, Betal Panchabingsati etc. Along with his literary pursuits, he was well-known in the society as a social reformer. He has fought uncompromisingly against many superstitions, blind faith and religious orthodoxy of Indian Hindu society. He had a leading role in social reform. He was the first to arrange marriages for Hindu widows. He married the first widow with his son and from then on widow marriage was introduced. He later took an active part in drafting the Widow Marriage Act. That is why he will be forever remembered in the life of Bengalis. He always presented himself as a human being. He followed this path, the true religion of human religion, and he believed in this principle. So speaking to him, Rabindranath Tagore said, ‘He was neither a Hindu nor a Bengali Brahmin, he was a man’.

He has made many fundamental changes in the structure of Bengali literature. In his hands many fundamental changes took place in the structure of Bengali literature.
He died on 29 July 1891 at the age of 71.
