The family was then living in Kushtia town of Nadia district. He was born there in July 1886. He started his education at Pandit Ramlal Saha Primary School in Kushtia, then at the local high school.

Like many artists of Bengali literature, his creative talent and expression first appeared in the flow of poetry. His book of poetry caught the eyes of elders. They were thrilled to read that poem.

Why his name is a shining example in Bengali literature?

His name is a shining example in Bengali literature as the creator of the remarkable novel language in Bengali literature. After the publication of Binodini, a great stir was created in the Bengali literary world. Poet Rabindranath Tagore said, “I am delighted to see the new form and flavor of your story.” Dr. Sengupta, Tarashankar Banerjee and many others offered congratulations.

Poet Sukumar Sen said, this entertaining story book published with nine stories is not like an ordinary story book and the form presented in the stories is also novel. The seeds of insanity may be hidden in the subconscious of a normal healthy person, which sometimes rises to the surface of consciousness under the pressure of events and surroundings. Then the brake of intellect does not work on his religious thoughts. Such psychotic incidents are a striking feature of his famous stories. His artistic skills are as intact as possible in later episodes.

He wrote many novels, plays, stories and tales. Notable novels are – Asadhu Siddhartha, Mahishi, Dulaler Dola, Tatal Saikat, Nidrita Kumbhakarna, Laghu Guru etc.
