The Kalki Puran is a special book of the Hindus. The original text of the Kalki Purana was first written in Sanskrit. It was later translated into Hindi. After much searching, the Kalki Puran translated into Bengali could not be found properly. Later, the writers of Bengali literature came forward to translate the Kalki Puran Sanskrit text into Bengali. One such famous Bengali writer was Swami Jagadishananda, who later translated the Kalki Puran Hindu scripture into Bengali by Balaichand Sen and Jaganmohan Tarkalankar.

The Mahabharata Eighteenth Purana, the Mahapurana and the Eighteenth Uppurana are all prevalent in Hindu society, all composed by Maharshi Veda Vyasa. But again many say that it is not possible for one person to publish so many large books. Especially when all the old ones are written by one person, how can there be disagreement.

One person writes or says the same thing in one place and says the opposite in another – this is by no means possible. Especially considering the way of writing, philosophy and feeling etc., it does not seem that all the old books have been published by a single person. Although Maharshi Veda Vyasa cannot be compared with the common people, those who have tried to make such an argument that not all the old Bedavas are composed by him, are not at all wrong in making such an assumption.

From time immemorial, Brahmins have memorized the Vedas by listening to the Gurmukhs. Because then the Vedas were not written in the form of books. Maharshi Veda Vyasa, along with 6 other disciples, thought of publishing the words of the Vedas in the form of Chirantani, that is, in the form of a book with various discussions and reviews. Eventually he collected the meanings of the Vedas through various reviews and prepared a wonderful memoir in the guise of anecdotes.

It is known that the book was published under the name Puran Sanghita. 70 lakh verses were added to that text. Later, out of those 6 disciples, three disciples used the book Puran Sanghita and composed three other separate Puranas. The names of those three distinct Puranas were – Savarni Sanhita, Shangshapayan Sanhita and Akratabrana Sanghita. Subsequently, a total of four Puranasanghita, including these three Puranasanghita and the first Puranasanghita, were adopted to compose the ‘Eighteenth Mahapurana’ and 36 Uppuranas.

This proves that since Maharshi Beda Vyasa prepared the Puranasanghita. Later his disciples collected the subjects from that Puranasanghita and later published three Puranas. Authors Rajkrishna Roy, Balaichand Sen and Jaganmohan Tarkalankar have translated the Kalkipuran scripture into Bengali.
