About Kabi-katha
Twenty-three years ago. In the month of Agrahayan in the year 1334, the writer Sudhir Chandra Kar came to Santiniketan as a library worker. Six months later. That day was a Wednesday. After worshipping at the temple, the poet was resting on the veranda of the cottage nearby. The writer was passing through the path in front, when the poet Rabindranath Tagore called him. He said, “You have to stay with me there. Come tomorrow and take over the work from Amiya (Shri Amiya Chakraborty). The work of the poet’s private office.”
A few days ago, I had the good fortune to meet the poet a little, through the music guru “Dinubabu“. The occasion was a notebook of my poems. The topics of this book start from here. Therefore, it must be assumed that the period of these events is roughly the last fourteen years of the poet’s life.
One day, big things become small, the value of small things increases. Of course, such a day does not come to everyone; Rabindranath is one of those who come. It is difficult to decide today that anything about him is insignificant. In such cases, it is better to leave the burden of judgment in the hands of time rather than leaving it in the hands of people.
Those who have not seen the poet in person, their curiosity in the very small and short words of the poet’s domestic life is endless; this is very visible. This is the situation today; the timeless future is already here. If they hear or read something like that, they feel like they are physically close to the poet. Being close, I have felt the last era of the poet’s life somewhat alive. Whatever I know, I want to say something especially for them, overcoming the dilemma of mistakes.
However, this conversation is not all about the next birth, it is just an occasion. In other words, this is a re-tasting of the poet’s company. Many times, the joy of eating is accumulated – in the joy of eating. By telling others, this is a kind of enjoyment of the writer himself.
Today, I remember the person whose curiosity and continuous enthusiasm gave rise to this collection of words. He is Shri Panchanan Mandal. Currently, he is the head of the Library Department of Visva-Bharati. My sister Shrimati Sadhana Kar also has a special connection in the writing of this book. Before publication, the help of my friends Shri Mohanlal Mitra, Shri Paramesh Basu and other well-wishers should not be forgotten.
Some parts of the book were published in various magazines at different times. The author thanks the honorable editors for this. Finally, I especially remember Visva-Bharati. 22nd The book was supposed to be published in Shravan. Due to various difficulties, the publication was delayed.
