The Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru Bengali and English PDF.

The Biographical Book The Discovery of India was written during the five consecutive months from April to September 1944 while Jawaharlal Nehru in the Ahmednagar Fort Jail. The three books are Glimpses of World History, An Autobiography and The Discovery of India. It is one of the three golden books written by Jawaharlal Nehru.
While rewriting the book during his imprisonment, he was able to add some of the original text to the comments of many. Towards the end, there was no change except for the re-part. The eleven companions who were with him in the Ahmednagar jail were representatives of India in many ways, not only in local politics but also in terms of culture. They had the ability and erudition to represent all the ancient and modern Indian languages which have profoundly influenced the national life of the past and present.
What he wrote in captivity, in war and in an unusual environment, seemed to him worthless later on because a lot had already happened at that time. He was imprisoned for a long time for the country. India, an ancient and vast land, has been born on the people. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has tried to portray this human nature beautifully in his great book. In this book, he also gives a clear idea about the great ideals and image of India.
Jawaharlal Nehru’s thoughts on India are also taken in the form of diaries in the form of historical thoughts. In the end, Jawaharlal Nehru, the possessor of historical personality, has established the theory that the practice of history is a part of self-study, that the search for history is an introspection, that the individual and history are interconnected.

At the end of the introduction to the book, Jawaharlal Nehru said, “The tradition of birth and reincarnation has merged with me after some time. The author of this book is one of those who come and go, leaving only his memory”.

Foreword was written by Indira Gandhi in this Book.
My father’s three books — Glimpses of World History, An Autobiography and The Discovery of India — have been my companions through life. It is difficult to be detached about them.
Indeed Glimpses was’ written for me. It remains the best introduction to the story of man for young and growing people in India and all over the world. The Autobiography has been acclaimed as not merely the quest of one individual for freedom, but as an insight into the making of the mind of new India. I had to correct the proofs of Discovery while my father was away, I think in Calcutta, and I was in Allahabad ill with mumps! The Discovery delves deep into the sources- of India’s national personality. Together, these books have molded a whole generation of Indians and inspired persons from many other countries.

Books fascinated Jawaharlal Nehru. He sought out ideas. He was extraordinarily sensitive to literary beauty. In his writings he aimed at describing his motives and appraisals as meticulously as possible. The purpose was not self-justification or rationalization, but to show the Tightness and inevitability of the actions and events in which he was a prime participant. He was a luminous man and his writings reflected the radiance of his spirit.
The decision of the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund to bring out a uniform edition of these three classics will be widely welcomed.
