Jawaharlal Nehru wrote the Patraguchcha collection book.
The collection ‘Patraguchcha’ was written by the former Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. These letters of the ‘Patraguchcha’ collection can be called a mix collection. The task of turning them into a single publishable compilation was not easy for the writer Jawaharlal Nehru. It is also difficult for him to judge how worthwhile the work has been. Almost all of it now seems to be of long ago.
With only a few exceptions, the letters were written before India’s independence, and were about the internal problems of the country and how those problems affected us. Rereading them, he found, they stirred up old differences and recalled almost-forgotten anecdotes. Almost all of the collected letters were written between the third, fourth and fifth decades of the 20th century, when our country was struggling for independence, and in those spare moments, Nehruji was outside the prison walls.
Who was Jawaharlal Nehru?
Writer Jawaharlal Nehru did not have the time or facility to organize his letters and papers properly and as a result, they were haphazardly bound together. After a few days, Paul continued to attack them, taking everything they could find. Returning home after a long imprisonment, he often found Wee and other insects turning the papers into feasting material.
However, some have been saved. After many years his friends helped to put these letters into a rough order. When Sampriti went on a short vacation to Kulu-uptaka in the Himalayas, she prepared a compilation from the letter.
His initial ambition was to publish only Mahatma Gandhi’s letters to him. But gradually other epistles were added, and even some of his writings were inserted, because otherwise it would have been difficult to understand the meaning of so many allusions and references. This collection of epistles is arranged chronologically, although there are occasional exceptions to the enumeration for the sake of clarity.
Author Jawaharlal Nehru has added some footnotes and paraphrases, in fact he suspects that those who are not familiar with the historical tradition of India of that time, may not understand some of the references and allusions written in some of the letters.
Each of the letters included in the Epistle Collection is a written letter. He did not add any miraculous or fabricated words to this collection of potsherds. Hence it can also be called a document. Such compilations are very rare. So for the readers, ardent students, literature lovers, the PDF file of the anthology is provided on this webpage.
