Sahaj Path’ is a Bengali language learning book written by poet Guru Rabindranath Thakur (Tagore). The poet published the book Sahaj Path in two volumes on the main topics of Bengali language and literature in the children’s literature section. The first volume deals beautifully with the basic concepts of the Bengali alphabet and the process and structure of the alphabet. In the second volume, the poet Rabindranath Thakur composed the sentences, paragraphs, use of words, emphasis, odd-words and the structure of rhymes easily for easy learning, so these two volumes are considered as the first step in the development of children’s mind in Bengali. Both the books Sahaj Path were declared as the stepping stone of pioneering education in Bengali language in India.
The book has been published in the Department of Primary Education in West Bengal as a children’s reading book. The easy-to-read book can therefore be called the first step in the Bengali language. Poet Rabindranath Tagore has formed here to pronounce and learn Bengali fluently. These two books were included by the West Bengal Primary Education Board to awaken and teach children about the Bengali language and have long been provided free of cost to every primary school in Bengal.
At present, however, due to the simplification and change of the Bengali language, the two books have been omitted from the syllabus. Now both the books are preserved as rare books.
